We were informed by one of our users that there is an issue with a small number of activity datasets in the ecoinvent v3 master material data as implemented in Umberto NXT LCA.

The affected datasets are all from the Attributional System Model, and they are all activity datasets that are access restricted with the value 'ResultsOnly' (this means that the Unit Process UPR is not provided to the regular license holder, but only the System Terminated (Result, LCI) dataset version. From the group described above, those datasets that have more than one output (i.e. one reference flow, the product and one or more by-products) are affected. At present it is unclear how many activity datasets fall into this group. It could be an estimated 10 to 30 activity datasets.

These datasets should be available in Umberto as allocated single-output processes for the main product and for each of the by-products. However, only one (!) version is available, and this is not necessarily for the main product, but possibly for one by-product instead.

One dataset affected is 'citric acid production' (CN), which besides the main product 'citric acid' delivers 7 by-products. Only one single-output process is available in Umberto NXT LCA, and it is not the one for 'citric acid' but instead for one of the by-products ('phosphate fertiliser, as P2O5')

This is due to an error in the import routine that reads the ecoinvent v3 data and transforms them into the activity dataset modules in Umberto NXT LCA.

We have identified the erronous section in the import code and are fixing it. We will have to repeat the import process after this. Therefore, we will only be able to ship the new master data with the next Umberto NXT LCA release. A release date has presently not been set. We will keep our users informed here in the forum when to expect a new update release.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by our negligence.

In the meantime users should be aware of the issue, if they are using activity datasets from the group described above.

We will try to list all datasets here. At present the problem has been identified for the following activity datasets
* citric acid production (all geographies)
* liquid packaging board production (all geographies)
* list to be completed

On a side note: the affected datasets are (as of today, July 30) not downloadable from the ecoinvent website either, but can be viewed online only. The ecoinvent Centre has been informed of this by the user who also reported the problem to us for the database in Umberto NXT LCA.

This issue has been fixed with the new version of Umberto NXT LCA with ecoinvent v3.01 data (released on September 10, 2013).
