Data (ecoinvent v3, GaBi) / Re: Recycling einer Li-ion Batterie
« Last post by Genisto on May 03, 2017, 15:34 »

https://v33.ecoquery.ecoinvent.org/File/File?fileName=ecoinvent+3+report_selected+chapters_Energy.zip&hash=137562852&type=Reports

In der Beschreibung vom Datensatz „manual dismantling of used electric passenger car [GLO]” steht:
>> the waste fractions are calculated without considering the weight of the battery. The treatment involves the manual dismantling of the car into its various modules (glider and drivetrain).<<

- treatment of used Li-ion battery, pyrometallurgical treatment [GLO]
- treatment of used Li-ion battery, hydrometallurgical treatment [GLO]

General / Dynamic modelling
« Last post by Tim on April 11, 2017, 17:00 »
Hello there,

I've been using the Umberto software off and on over the last few years and I know that this question has already been asked, I was just hoping for an update. In 2013 dynamic modelling was going to be included in the next upgrade of Umberto Efficiency, however I cannot see any mention of it in the release notes, is it possible now and if not, are there any serious plans to implement it, as it would be an extremely useful tool for an upcoming project I have.

Also will it only be available for users of Umberto Efficiency, or will it be possible to use it in Umberto Universal?

Thanks for your time,
Tim

General / Re: Problems calculating cml with a raw sugar model
« Last post by mprox on February 23, 2017, 21:22 »
Dear Vanesa,

thank you for your request. Did you use ecoinvent materials and ecoinvent processes during your modelling of the pre chains  and direct emissions?

If not, meaning in case you created new materials maybe with spanish names, this might be the reason for an incomplete LCIA result. The easiest way to solve the problem is to ensure that you use materials at the system boundaries of your model that are included in the ecoinvent material database.

Without knowing the model it is a bit vague to provide you advice. Do you use Umberto at a University?
if so, who is the professor you work with?

Kind regards,
Martina

General / Problems calculating cml with a raw sugar model
« Last post by vdiazr on February 15, 2017, 18:48 »
Hi There,

I'm modeling the manufacture chain for non centrifuged sugar in Colombia. I have set up all the phases (8 processes) of my model and calculated the total flows in order to check its consistency, everything seems to be ok. But at the moment that I calculate cml, the inputs and outputs of the calculation don't take into account the materials used in several phases (processes) of my model. I don't know what to do to get a proper calculation of the potential impacts of this production chain, in which all of the materials are included.

Also, as the cooking of the raw sugar uses bagasse as a fuel, I have included the CO2 emissions of the combustion process as outputs of the processes that require heat, but as it seems, Umberto is not adding these emissions to the cml calculation. What should I do to have these values included in the calculations?

I do hope someone can help me.

Thanks a lot.

kindly,

Vanesa

General / New year - new Umberto update!
« Last post by rbrandt on February 08, 2017, 16:17 »
Just with the beginning of 2017 we have released a new Umberto Update on January 26th. So what’s new in Umberto NXT CO2 when you update?

Here you can find a quick overview:

Copy whole models (including net parameters)
  • New functions available in the project explorer to copy and paste whole models.
  • Select a model from the project explorer and use the context menu item 'Copy Model' to copy the desired model including its subnets and net parameters to the Windows clipboard.
  • You can now use the context menu of the 'Models' folder to paste the model from the Windows clipboard to your current or to a new project.

Usability Improvements
  • Result summary views are expanded and result details views are collapsed by default after a calculation.
  • When performing a calculation of a selection, LCIA data of intermediate exchanges will be excluded per default. This can be changed in the 'Options' dialog on the tab 'Calculation'.

Bug fixes
  • Fixed problem with automatic scaling in Windows for high screen resolutions (Ultra HD/4K).
  • Fixed exception when starting Umberto with outdated Model Migration Tool installation files.
  • 'Allocations' grid in the process specification now displays correct basic unit.
  • Process specification now correctly shows 'Reference Flow' in 'Material Type' column instead of 'Good/Bad' for reference flows at system boundaries.

A detailed description how to use the new features can be found in the Release Notes.
We recommend to install the update and always run the latest version.

The latest trial version of Umberto NXT can be obtained from our webpage.

Currently only the license owner receive update notes via e-Mail. If you are working with Umberto and like to receive these e-Mails, just send your name and your e-Mail address to marc.s.loebel@ifu.com
