General / environment like github for some elementary parts?
« Last post by negin96moslemi on January 03, 2021, 18:22 »
Hi, hope you're doing well and happy new year.

I was wondering is there any environment having some pre-defined and drawn LCA that we can copy and use for our bigger LCA? For instance, the manufacturing process of bearing or gears?

I think that would be really helpful and time-saving, like some basic codes that are existed on Github.

Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.

Hallo Anfi,

Dear Yusuf,

Thanks a lot for your post. Unfortunately, this is currently not available in Umberto LCA+. However it will be implemented in Umberto 11, going to be released next year.

Already available is a multiple scenario analysis. You find a webinar recording right here:

Furthermore please find here some hints:

General / Uncertainty Analysis Feature or Monte Carlo Simulation

Is there any feature in Umberto LCA+ that can be used to evaluate the uncertainty in the environmental impacts?

To clarify, can tens/hundreds/thousands of different iterations be simulated to estimate the uncertainty of impacts such as Global Warming Potential, Acidification Potential and so on?

Uncertainty Analysis: Systematic procedure to quantify the uncertainty introduced in the results of a life cycle inventory analysis due to the cumulative effects of model imprecision, input uncertainty and data variability. [ISO 14044]

PS: A similar topic was created in 2014, but it has been inactive for a while.

General / Python in Umberto

General / Model into a transition?
« Last post by maphraw on June 13, 2020, 13:03 »
Hi there , I’m Jame.

in Umberto 5.6 it was possible to export a whole subnet or a whole calculated net into a spreadsheet, which you could import into a single transition and use this transition as a new one through export this transition.

I couldn't find a similar function in Umberto NXT LCA yet. Is there any possibility to create such a transition from exporting a spread sheet of a calculated net?

Thank in advance.

I am also very new to Umberto and was wondering if it is possible to Import EcoSpold Data to Umberto. The last post I have seen on this topic is from 2015. Surely there is a way to use free Datasets, not only by formatting it to an Excel sheet. Otherwise I would be almost completely bound to data I have to buy and this shouldn't be the state of the art. Don’t you agree?

Dear hearthot2543,
You can import linear specifications with a right click on a process, but you need to use the correct template. You can get this if you export the input/output data (linear specification) from a successfully calculated model.

An alternative way is to specify a carbon footprint or other LCIA impact factor for a custom material. Our manual in chapter 6.5 will help you how to set this up.
